Every summer, the American Lifeguard Association works to keep beaches and pools safe by training a new generation of dedicated lifeguards. This season, we hope you’ll consider answering the call to serve. The ALA’s lifeguard certification courses offer an opportunity to help others while growing as both a professional and a person.
Convenient Scheduling
Lifeguard classes are being offered on various dates in May, June, and July. Their real-world perspective will fully prepare you for certification exams as well as the daily responsibilities of being an on-duty guard.
Multiple Pathways After Certification
After successfully completing an ALA course, you will be equipped to obtain lifeguard certifications from major organizations like the American Lifeguard Association and the United States Lifesaving Association. From there, opportunities to work summer jobs as a lifeguard with local partner facilities of the ALA will be available.
Registration Discounts Available
Don’t let the cost be a barrier to beginning your career. The ALA is offering 10% discounts on course fees for students who register before May 15th. We want the broadest range of community-minded individuals to have this chance to join our team of lifeguarding professionals. What better way to spend the summer than using your skills and training to potentially save lives? Our certification courses are the first step toward securing an important job that truly makes an impact in the community.
More than a Summer Job
Being a lifeguard is about much more than just spending breaks from school by the water. It’s a chance to directly impact your community through potentially lifesaving work. Your training will give you skills to supervise safely and respond quickly in any emergency situation. But equally important is the fulfillment that comes from keeping family and friends enjoying recreational activities without fear.
Develop Lifelong Responsibility
Working under the guidance of seasoned lifeguard instructors, you’ll learn protocols and techniques used daily by professionals. More than memorizing maneuvers, the ALA experience instills the steadfast vigilance and judgment required when people’s safety depends on you. Traits that stay long after certification as you face new challenges.
Connect with Your Community
Networks of ALA lifeguard near me become like extended family, supporting each other through rewarding seasons and difficult rescues. Beyond the job, many find mentors, and some even meet their future spouses!
